ASBESTOS MANAGEMENT
Because of it's strength and ability to resist heat, asbestos was once used in a variety of building construction materials ranging from insulation to floor tile. Some common building components which may contain asbestos include attic insulation, insulated pipes and ductwork, roofing materials, floor tiles and floor tile adhesive, "popcorn" ceilings, textured paint, wall materials, and automobile brakes.

Lead has been mined and used for thousands of years. It's popularity may be attributed to its versatility, as well as its favorable physical and chemical properties. While lead is present in the Earth's crust, he greatest risk of exposure to lead comes from man-made processess and products. Common sources of lead exposure include lead-based paint, urban soil (contaminated from leaded gasoline, paint, and industrial sources) and drinking water (contaminated by lead pipes). According to the EPA's Report on the National Survey of Lead-based Paint in Housing, Approximately 64 million pre-1978 housing units and facilities contain at lease some lead-based paint.
Our lead services include, but are not limited to:
-
Lead-based paint (LBP) surveys, inspections, and risk assessments in residential, commercial and school facilities.
-
Lead air area monitoring and lead dust wipe clearance sampling during and following removal of LBP and LBP-containing materials in residential, commercial and school facilities.
MYEC will ensure that all customers, their projects and their properties are compliant with state and federal LBP regulations. All work by MYEC associated with LBP is done in accordance with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Guidelines for the Evaluation and Control of Lead-Based Paint Hazards in Housing.
Consultants are accredited by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality as Lead Inspectors and Lead Risk Assessors.
MYEC has XRF testing capabilities.
INDOOR AIR QUALITY
Our services include but are not limited to:
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) assessments with an emphasis on mold in commercial, residential and school facilities. These assessments include a visual inspection/walkthrough to check for visible mold and structural defects that may cause mold, air sampling to compare spore counts indoors to spore counts outdoors and tape/bulk sampling when visible mold is present.
Post remediation mold clearance testing in commercial, residential and school facilities.
While mold is currently unregulated, the EPA has guidlines set for mold inspection and remediation. These guidlines are practiced by MYEC consultants.
